What is a lanyard?

A lanyard is a short length of material that is worn around the neck.
fittings are usually sewn to the lanyard to create a necklace type shape with a metal clip on the end, the clip is designed to have various items attached, this is so the wearer can hang keys, cell phones or electronic devices onto the lanyard being worn around there neck.

When a lanyard is worn your personal items have less chance of being lost because they are attached to a lanyard which is being worn around the neck.

Lanyards are also used for carrying identification items around, organisations with security needs will choose to have there ID cards attached to a standard swivel clip or maybe a retractable puller that can be extended for swipe cards or barcoded cards.

Health and safety is also a huge concern with lanyards being manufactured for hospitals and certain education or medical institutions, If required we can make a lanyard with a special safety clip sewn into the back of the lanyard or the side. This is so the person wearing the lanyard can not be strangled if the lanyard becomes snagged or caught up.

Lanyards are commonly manufactured from polyester material that is cut to a specific length and then stitched back onto itself to create the lanyard length, we manufacture our standard lanyards to a length of 900mm when layed flat and un sewn.

Nylon lanyards are also popular when a smoother silkier material is required, however with the material being slightly more expensive a lot of companies choose the above mentioned polyester option.
